I've read Susies book. It's about a group of retired coal miners that decide they need to get in touch with their feminine side, so they form gang four brothers and set off to change the world.
One of them becomes a window dresser in Slough, another becomes a telephonist at the naval dockyards in Portsmouth speaking in falsetto. Another becomes a pantomime dame in rep, and another becomes a beauty therapist specialising in leg and bikini line waxing.
After a year, they all get back together. One of them has a sex change and gets married to one of the others - but I'm not telling you which one does which. You'll have to read the book to find that out.

Well that is it now, I am well and truly scuppered between you and Space Cat the whole plot is out :)
Don't forget Joe I have your book here on my computer ...I have an advantage

I'm sure I've seen something like this before..... That's it! Corrie

Hi squeaky how nice to see you, I had been wondering where you were.

I am busy writing my book so not much time for reading, also I read for Joe as he writes, he has done over 75.000 words which is just brilliant, he is well on the way to finishing his book soon. How good is that, he has done a fantastic job :)

I may put some time aside for a read at the weekend if I am not too busy...I have just bought, amongst goodness knows how many other books, which I will 'read one day' A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry, every review gives it a five star rating so I think once I start it I shall find it hard to put it down.

Still have the mallards here by the way...she laid an egg...just a stray one...no proper nest, but the rook came down and ate it

Wow! 75,000 words IS impressive. Not sure how that relates to number of pages but it certainly sounds a lot.... (probably one chapter for Stephen King)

drat....I thought something was missing

OK, just for you - the technology already exists:

http://www.gls-lithotripsy.com/Howdoes.html

but while lithotripsy directs ultrasonic shock waves towards a fixed target, our version modulates the sound waves to produce a rippling effect.   Now here comes the clever bit; we vary the phasing of multiple sound sources to create multiple target spots that are constantly on the move in a more or less random fashion or, as Allia would put it"wild or smooth". :) :) :)

SC thats not a patch on the 'phased array' and you know it...now shut up about mermaids there are NO mermaids in my book and there never will be...no mermalisciousness ever....(sob)

On a more sensible note...squeaky the average novel contains about 80.000 words and it is the recommended target for a first attempt at writing.
It is no mean feat as anyone who has actually sat down and tried to do it will know, an awful lot of hard work really does go into it.

Maybe not, but it might be the best that can be achieved in practice. :) :) :) You should know that I conceived the idea way back in the sixties (http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=692940#692940) but didn't have the slightest idea how to make it work. :( :( :( I can hardly believe that it took me forty years to think of using water as a coupling medium. I guess I owe nelsy for that one. 8) 8) 8)

Just working things out in my head I'm up to about twenty words at the moment so I've got a long way to go. I wasn't mocking Joe by the way - I think he's done an amazing job.

Squeaky I didn't think for one minute that you meant it in a mocking way about Joe.
Well, 20 words is better than none...as a wise man once said 'a journey of a thousand miles, begins with just one step' and you have made that step so well done you.... you only have 79.980 to go :) just take it steady and do a little each day, it will take shape quicker than you think.
