As it's so clear to you, maybe you could enlighten us on that claim regarding the 'rwanda deterrent'?

Would it not be better to invest in a workable system to 'stop the boats'?

The government has already cut 14,500 posts in the DWP as part of its Gershon efficiency drive. In total it plans to cut a further 70,000 across the rest of the Civil Service.
Clearly you missed the news when this was going on.
 
There are two approaches to reducing illegal immigration.

1. make your neighbour look like the better place to go.
2. work together with your neighbours to fix the problem at source, collaboratively.

If you are going to choose 2, you better be able to trust them.

Here's what we have so far.
1.
deporting illegals
prosecuting the helmsman
declining asylum applications

2.
funding the French to help
agreeing a returns model and quota

I don't see how more, better police in the UK can help intercept gangs operating in France and Turkey. I do think other countries will opt for off-shore processing/detention if it works.

Nail on the head. There needs to be a genuine collaborative effort across the EU to tackle this. There's no doubt migration is going to increase over coming years so it definitely needs addressed.

So much faffing about ...

A court in Belfast has ruled that the Rwanda legislation doesn't apply in N.I.
Some Iranian asylum seeker took a test case to the high court.
The judge ruled that the legislation conflicts with Rishi Sunaks Windsor agreement.
Didn't Sunaks legal "experts" spot this loophole when drawing up the Rwanda legislation, or maybe they didn't give a f**k.
 
Vinty rather than mount a legal challenge ( how is this paid for ) why doesn't he just go to the EU, oh sorry Ireland where they can live in milk and honey?

Agreed Rwanda had a few minor issues a while back

Any one against the migrants being sent to Rwanda could well be a racist ???
