Every mechanical watch I ever had stopped, including a fully refurbished ex-military Rolex I had in the 1970s (for all of 3 weeks). The watchmaker wore it, no problems - I put it on, dead within a few hours, so back to the watchmaker, about 6 times in total. Cheap battery watches were much more reliable, but in the end when mobile phones came along, I put my last watch away and I've not worn a watch in more than 25 years, I don't miss them - too easy to scratch, too fragile, too likely to catch on something when I'm working
