Who poor? Street sweepers? Care home assistants? Fast food outlet employees? Cleaners? They all do a necessary job but are you suggesting they should be paid as much as a skilled tradesmen? Doctors? Dentists? You? JohnD? Notch? BTW, what is it exactly that you do for a living? Are you poorly paid?

There's a difference between low pay and too low.

Everyone who works full time, including the jobs you list above (that you seem to view as value less) deserves to be able to live, not just exist, on their wage.

A fair days pay for a fair days work is the old maxin that should still be applied.

Then you get the situation where companies are subsidised to make big profits by underpaying workers via the working tax credits system etc.

The issue is the standard of living, not the x£ per hour.

Very low wages, and standards of living are not helpful overall.

Typical, I'm OK Jack type mentality

So the peaks in 2012 and 2018 were also down to Brexit and that the paths follow a similar trajectory is not part of your narrative either.
