Those massive queues at Dover that brexers claim don’t exist….are back

If the job is necessary and is underpaid - what does that tell you? There is market failure.
Err, it tells me they should have worked harder at school. If there is no incentive to get trained or qualified, what would be the point of doing it? What was it you said you did for a living - did you do any training or qualifications to be able to do it?

Is Germany in recession? yes or no.
Is UK in recession? yes or no.
The international banker says they are. Is Noset and Gally saying they are wrong?

In the same breath you want skilled tradesman or skilled people to be paid what they should be - you get a hard on against union workers trying to fight for higher wages.
What skill does a train worker have? Fúck me, even the highest paid amongst them, the drivers, have only got to push a lever backwards and forwards. How long do you think the training for that was? Has anybody failed?

So very low pay is OK as long as some others are well paid?

Have we got a thread discussing the implications for the Visa exemption next year?

If you've got a clean criminal history it'll probably be a quick and easy fix, but if it works like the US one you'll need a Visa if you have any minor convictions then you'll need a full Visa and they might refuse you.

I'm fine, but I wonder how many people have minor criminal records.

And the ones with the greatest growth rate, are the ones doing the most pollution.
It's not true anymore. The link has broken down in recent years for rich nations. That's not to say it's not still true in part, but it shows it doesn't have to stay true.

It also ignores the tend of Co2 intensity. China's is getting greener each year, although they are starting from a very dirty grid.

@Notch7 - add another excuse to the list of why there are delays at Dover: that car transporter ablaze in the Channel. Admittedly it's off the Netherlands and not drifting, but hey, the Brexieers need all the excuses they can muster ;-)

Well fancy that.

Has Rich Rishi just had a political donation from a major polluter?

"UK government cuts cost of polluting in latest anti-green move

Quietly announced changes to carbon pricing water down incentives for industry to reduce emissions"

FT.com

The UK government has made it cheaper for industry to pollute in Britain compared with the EU by watering down reforms to the carbon market, in the latest sign that the Conservative party is backsliding on its climate agenda.

Whitehall recently quietly announced changes to the UK’s carbon trading scheme, including offering more allowances than expected to polluting industries. The move has pushed carbon prices to trade at a steep discount compared with those in Europe, sparking warnings from industry that it will undermine green investments and increase fossil fuel use.

“The changes to the carbon market have largely passed under the radar in the UK but will have the biggest impact of any policy on the UK’s emissions path,” said James Huckstepp, an analyst at BNP Paribas.

The UK Emissions Trading Scheme was launched in 2021 after Brexit. Like its equivalent in the EU, it puts a price on emitting a tonne of CO₂. Large industrial emitters and electricity generators receive allowances to cover some of their emissions."

Another Brexit benefit.

Tofu regulations and damage to health and the nation.
