Tory party to change back to imperial measurements

Is that a recommendation?

No, just an observation that the most powerful nation on Earth, copes adequately.

All talk of returning to the imperial system, only annoys the dull of mind.

Both systems can easily function side by side.

Calculations are ridiculously difficult

They have complex tables of drill, tap, screw and spanner sizes.

AFAIK they have not recently had a spacecraft crash due to confusion.

Metric system is on USA statute books

SI has been the "preferred system of weights and measures for United States trade and commerce" since 1975 according to United States law (conversion was never mandatory)

The U.S. has a national policy to adopt the metric system.[9] All U.S. agencies are required to adopt the metric system

Its just another right wing culture war

”we’ve tanked the economy over the last 13 years, let’s get the public talking about feet n inches”

next week it’ll be gender neutral toilets or working from home.

Look, over there.

America still seems fine with it.
Still, yes. That's the point.

Although, many Americans use metric, eg in science, and military
