What are you having for breakfast?

Kippers. Just out from the grill. Usual instructions from Mrs Mottie. Turn the extractor fan on, shut the downstairs doors, open the patio doors. Yes dear!

Not quite breakfast but I had a cheeky brunch as well today. Bacon, avocado and mushroom sammich.

Not breakfast really, more brunch. Went down to the local beach and there's a few pop up eateries. Bagged meself a crab salad and a lemonade.
Bod may wish to note that the area behind me is the site where 'Gossips Nightclub' once stood.
transam may wish to note that in the distance, is France.

Followed by a snooze on the sand followed by an ice cream.

Feck me! I thought I was looking at a photo of me before I got my lockdown belly!

Run out of cereal today so had a root around in the fridge, found half a can of beans and the last two eggs. Had those on a couple of wholemeal slices. Meh, It’ll do.

Tried to recreate a breakfast I had earlier this week when we were in Bath for a break. Eggs Florentine. Not too successful - it was a bit of a nightmare trying to synchronise the toasted muffin, wilted spinach, poached eggs and home-made Hollandaise sauce. I just about got it right but nowhere near as tasty, or filling, as the one I had earlier in the week. Mrs Mottie said perhaps it was because I didn’t start with cereal, yoghurt with compote, a glass of orange juice and numerous slices of toast and preserves. Maybe she has a point….

Made a right mess making them too - don’t think I’ll have it again at home as it’s a lot of faffing about for one portion. I’ll keep it in mind for my breakfast menu when we go away for the new year as I am the regular chef de breakfast for the group.

Nothing for breakfast for me as usual which seems to have been the case for last decade or so, I'm a firm believer in one meal (evening) a day for several reasons but mainly I don't want to be a bloater and this seems to be a good method for staying on top of that, I also firmly trust the notion that 'man' is essentially a forrager and concept of 'three meals a day' has only recently come about as our access to food has become more plentiful and we've become more prosperous. Had this conversation at work once with several colleagues, not one would even acknowledge that eating one meal a day could be beneficial. Admittedly when I was younger the one meal a day thing was more through laziness/being a smoker but not now.

Funnily, if I miss breakfast because I’m busy, I can go through to lunch time no bother. Breakfast will normally see me through to elevenses! Bloater is a good description of me at the moment and has been since I stopped smoking 20 years ago.

I am in accordance. Incidentally, if I have breakfast, I feel peckish around lunch time. The two combined meals will however reduce the likelihood of me eating in the evening.

I honestly cannot remember when I last ate 3 times in one day.

Whilst not wanting to lower the tone of the conversation... my work is domestic. I am happy to use a customer's loo for a pee but I don't want to use it for the other stuff. I get rid of all of that before I bathe/shower in the morning. The downside is that I hog the bathroom until I am "empty".
