Worst Tiling Ever??

Is this the worst tiling you have ever seen from a professional installer?

OMG!
How could anyone, even a diyer fit a screen like that???
And the hole for the flush button?!?!?!
It must've been his very first job.
Those buttons come with instructions and can be fitted virtually on any surface.
Jesus Christ, I feel for you.
err...

Apparently this was not his first job.

Lord alone knows what his first job was like if the does this after he's had some experience!

BiR - Thanks!

I think I'd just be asking for a tear out and refund.
Leave a really damning review on trustpilot, a lot of companies pick up on this and you can get some good outcomes from it

As said some national companies are so desperately short of skilled fitters they will take people on unchecked.

Blup

I would be inclined to ask for a full refund and monies for the remedial works required to be able to re-tile.

That said, I am not particularly impressed with the fact that the new tilers didn't move the plastic back box for the pull cord. And why have you got that silly beading around the bath?

The first tiler was shocking though.

Certainly worth thinking about that's for sure.

Given that the walls are now tiled to a good standard, we just need a company to come in and fit the bath, basin & wc properly, including the worktop, bath panel, plinth and shower screen and then silicone around the bath and basin.

Agreed, social media is a great way to "shame" companies. You can email them and they will fob you off. Raise a complaint on social media and they want to be seen to try to to resolve things.

Other than trustpilot, Twitter is a great way of complaining. In the past I have found the twitter accounts of the CEO/etc and then sent them photos. They don't want to be seen to ignore valid complaints and tend to respond pretty quickly.

It all sounds so simple ;)
Have a look for the batten to support the bath and I have always used tiling option D on your earlier list by the way

Turns out that the quadrant beading is required to cover a gap at the tap and foot ends of the bath which gets wider as you move from one side of the bath to the other (walls aren't square to each other). The diagram below explains.

Managed to look on Monday to see if the bath was supported on the wall sides & ends with a batten.

Guess what? No batten - only a whole heap of silicone (gonna be fun getting the bath out if required methinks)

Just a poor job from the start unfortunately.

I did our bathroom as I wanted it done right, did bits on a night after work.

You may be able to retro fit a batten for the bath, ours has one on 3 sides..

I used this kit to seal our bath, worked great.

If I had to fit this bathroom I would've squared the long wall with the 2 short ones at aquapanel/cement board stage.
That's very poor planning because you'll never be able to cover 22mm gaps around the bath.

Well, yes, you'd think so wouldn't you?

The inataller (!) originally used ordinary plasterboard around the bath - including the area for the shower. He tiled over that (with the results shown on page 1 of this thread) and was told to rip it all out and go back to the studwork and re-board.

Somebody must have said something to him because he re-boarded with Knauf Moisture Panel (the blue/green, 12.5mm thick stuff) and made a comment that it would make the space tighter as the panel was thicker but he "didn't want to compromise the integrity of the wall". He must have used the 9.5mm thick plasterboard originally.

So, nearly at the end of week six, still not a properly working bathroom - let alone a finished bathroom - and I haven't heard from Wickes Customer Relations since Tuesday lunch-time (nearly 48 hrs ago). There has been no work done on the bathroom since Monday 6th.

Can anyone PM me a Twitter adress for the Wickes CEO - David Wood? I think I'll try going public on social media with this. I've had a look for him on Google but not turning anything up. I have an email for BBC Watchdog sitting on the runway ready to go!

Legally, I guess I can issue a small claims against Wickes - to have the bathroom re-done and sue them for the cost of putting right this farce?

Try this...

David Wood: Wickes CEO.

He isn't on Twitter but he does have a page @LinkedIn.com

I had no luck getting a response from Watchdog when i complained about Rightio Plumbers but it helps to let off some steam.
Thanks for that link to David Wood.

I have already emailed him which has gotten Customer Relations involved.

They seem to move at glacial speed however.

Just posted an anonymous compaint on their Twitter feed and replied to their brush-off response.
