Zion and the Art of Armageddon

"The world court added that Israel "remains bound to fully comply with its obligations under the Genocide Convention and with the said Order, including by ensuring the safety and security of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”

The IDF has breached those conventions so many times it's hard to see how Israel will avoid sanctions in the aftermath of this biblical vengeance. Any sympathy from the International community after the shocking attack at Darom Adom has long been eroded by their ruthless persistence.

The IDF announced on Saturday morning that they had arrested over 100 terrorists in Nasser Hospital during operations in the Gaza Strip and that operations would continue for the foreseeable future.

Troops from the 98th Division operating in the Khan Yunis area arrested the terrorists in Nasser Hospital with the support of Shayetet 13 special forces embedded in the Division.

Simultaneously, troops from the Maglan and Egoz units eliminated terrorists around the area of the hospital.

Troops from the 7th Armored Unit raided several terror targets and found significant amounts of combat equipment, including explosives, grenades, and rifles.

Given that the arabs have been invading Israel for decades, you're right, they haven't learned from history.
I'd be inclined to think that neither side has learned much from history and also that the establishment of Israel was bound to cause conflict. The establishment of a Palestine has similar problems. Almost a historical sick joke from the very beginning to the current state of the problems.

Israel has experienced another shooting. Bloke from a refugee camp in E Jerusalem. The IDF has gone in and expectations mentioned. No reports yet.

Looking at another aspect of what has gone on over the years I came across this
In November 2003, four former heads of Shabak (Avraham Shalom, Yaakov Peri, Carmi Gillon and Ami Ayalon) called upon the Government of Israel to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians.

From Shabak's wiki page. Interesting that these seem to think it was possible.

;) Whoops Shin Bet's wiki page

Biden speaks - ;)not showing any age problems. 6 week cease fire for the return of all hostages.

Hamas several cease fires with staged hostage releases hopefully ending in a permanent one.

Israel? I've not found any solid comments other than they must carry on with what they are doing.

There has been a report that Israel is still shelling Gaza city. Pass.

Only Belgium, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey and Ireland, have decided to continue supporting the UNRWA.

The day before Lazzarini secured funding for the UNRWA from the Irish government, the country’s prime minister, Leo Varadkar, summed up the feelings of his government towards Israel’s war on Gaza. Philippe Lazzarini, head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), visited Ireland this week following the country’s decision to pledge 20 million euros (just under $21.5m) in support for the crisis-hit agency.

“It’s very, very clear to me … that Israel is not listening to any country in the world, I don’t even think they’re listening to the Americans anymore,”
he told the Irish parliament on Tuesday. “They have become blinded by rage.”

Between 1982 and 1990, the U.S. used its veto in support of Israel 21 times – nearly half of the U.S.'s total vetoes in support of Israel. The vetoed resolutions criticized Israel's aggression in Lebanon and its occupation of Palestinian territories. Since 2001, the U.S. has used its veto in support of Israel 14 times.18 Dec 2023
It seems the US will be using it again this week.

The general Assembly
NEW YORK, December 20, 2023 — The UN General Assembly rebuked Israel on Tuesday in three separate resolutions, concluding the world body's 2023 legislation with a total of 14 resolutions that single out the Jewish state, and seven on the rest of the world combined.

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry sharply criticized Hamas on Saturday, saying that "the organization is outside the Palestinian consensus, which recognizes Israel and wants to reach negotiations with it, because [Hamas] is not ready to give up its support for violence."

Shoukry made these comments at a press conference held at the Munich Security Conference. He also said that "we must give an account of how Hamas gained power in the Gaza Strip, and why it received financial support to increase the division between it and the other peacekeeping Palestinian factions – whether these are the Palestinian Authority, the PLO or the Palestinian public itself."

Referring to a possible IDF operation in Rafah and to the report that Egypt is building a buffer zone on its border where it could take in Palestinian refugees, the Egyptian minister said: "We have no intention of providing safe areas for the Palestinians, but if necessary, we will deal with it with the necessary humanity."

In parallel, North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shosha emphasized that the Egyptian army established the buffer zone to receive humanitarian aid for the residents of the Strip.

Munich Security Conference
There are lots of press releases from a number of people coming out of that. A syndical pundit said that deciding if China is friend or enemy will figure in the huddle - the talks that we wont hear about in detail. A Canadian release backs that.

The WHO got to the Nasser Hospital along with supplies and fuel and have been refused entry. They wanted to check the place over. Odd as Israel's usual hospital actions have been completed. Executive, some medics and others arrested etc. A report mentioned that Israel is using a more targetted method in other buildings in the surrounding area. Move people out and carry out a search.

Reports of more bombs being used. Rafar and central Gaza areas. Also arable areas.

Israel intends to move the people in Rafar to Khan Younis. There seems to be action south of that and still around it.

Demo's in Israel are getting much larger.

It seems Russia is going to have talks with some Palestinian groups.

Aid - a video showed sacks marked German Red Cross. A USA aid group paid for 3 shipments a good while ago. One got through. Others held. Given money tinned goods and 5 a day items are around at an exorbitant cost and in what looks like rather limited quantities.

The year Putin invaded Ukraine, there were 3 resolutions against Russia and something like 17 against Israel.

That almost makes me laugh but I sometimes have a sick sense of humour.

More news - probably relates to talks in the huddle and Israel feeling it must do something.

Ceasefires between 10am and 2pm in certain areas. Daily I think. Starts soon. Idea get aid in. Could it figure in evacuation at some point???

A cynical Arab comment. Feed them and kill them later.

The EU will be holding their own talks soon. Looks like some countries are not happy. Ireland we know about. Now add Belgium. Others - pass.

Bit more troubles
