Best TV Brand?

Don't discount Phillips TVs in your search.

That's interesting. A friend had told me that Philips TVs had become just another licensing badge for cheap products (a bit like Polaroid). But after doing a bit of Googling, it looks like they still have a good reputation, in spite of being sold to a Chinese firm. Are they a similar level to HiSense or better? The info out there is a bit confusing because Philips TVs sold in North America are made by a completely different firm.

We have a clearance warehouse close by and you get several hundred quid off last years models of all the top brands full guarantees with them

Apparently Vestel in Turkey have been making low and mid range Panasonic TVs for a while and now the high end stuff is being made for them by TCL in China.

There's a big electric goods manufacturer in Turkey by the name of Arcelik . Still creases me up.

Ooooh, I wonder how you use these:

I had all of them.
Samsung gets my vote, closely followed by sony.
In the old days Philips was unbeatable for picture quality, not anymore.

Sony singed a deal with LG to use their displays. If you buy a Sony oled, you are watching an LG panel.
Years ago I worked for Currys, their own brand at the time was Matsui, not sure if anyone on here remembers it? A fair share of Matsui stuff was pants, however some stuff (I remember one particular VCR) had quite a few decent quality main components inside from well known brands, however the product was cheaper than anything of the same spec.

Yes, remember them well. And Dixon's own brand in the 80s was Saisho.

Get a good screen, forget about the smart stuff. Use a Chromecast of similar for smart stuff.

£129 for an nvidia shield from amazon to make your TV like new again in the apps department? I still use a panasonic plasma. I want to upgrade but only for the energy saving. I would go for an LG OLED C1 or C2 and still use the nvidia shield!

Of the big four?

Sony, Samsung, LG and Panasonic.

LG puts me off, as they have adverts in their programme guides.

Don't know about their modern TVs, but all other Sony electronics I have used don't seem to be at all intuitive to use and have odd sequences of button presses.

I find the one remote that Samsung have adopted a complete PITA.

That leaves Panasonic, which is handy as I fancy an Android TV with Freeview Play.

Budget is 500 or less.

Which is your favoured TV brand?

Go over to the AVforums where the bods know their stuff. Just have a budget in mind.
