Bibby Bargain Barge?

I wasn’t making any other point than how the framework works and how the contract can be valued.

So you are an advocate of spending even more money, while also complaining that it isn't good value

Tory contracts dished out like confetti to their mates without scrutiny are not good value

example:
Rwanda plan cost = £300m
asylum seekers sent there = 0

”good value”…….

Except in this thread. We have established that the barge did not cost more than the largest cruise liner, was properly tendered under public procurement rules and is fairly good value given what it costs to run similar services.

and is fairly good value given what it costs to run similar services.
Nonsense. It is poor value compared to hotel rooms.
The cost of £75,000 per person for two years was based on a) full occupancy of the barge, and b) no additional costs to local authorities, etc.

I suppose there's no mates of the Tory party making money from hotel rooms spread around the country.

Why don’t you cost up a competitive bid, all the requirements are in the tender. Nothing stopped anyone with a credible proposal from bidding.

No we havent

we know there is a £1,6b contract
we know the contract included the Bibby Stockholm

there was no tender process
almost all the contract details have been redacted

All we can say is that worse case scenario the barge will cost £1.6b

Nothing stopped anyone with a credible proposal from bidding
The government stopped anyone with a credible proposal from bidding.

The contract was awarded to CTM without any tender process….so no chance to bid.

Its rather like the Covid VIP lane….it stopped people with a credible bid from bidding (only Tory mates)

thats not true, you've seen the information that disproves your response, to keep posting it would seem dishonest. All the details of the tender are published. It's only the commercially sensitive parts of the award that are redacted. It is not an exclusive award, it's a framework etc.

Compare it with safer routes and you won't need as many boats and hotels in the first place.
Additional safe routes you mean. How many more will come? Shall we assume double? That will cost the tax payer £6bn a year.

The objective is supposed to save lives.
But the policy is not achieving its supposed objectives. Therefore it's not value for money. The current government spend to Rwanda, to France, to various private firms on sceurity and accomodation is money entirely wasted, if it doesn't even make a dent on its objectives.
