But hang on a minute, even if this were true, if Russia wasn't firing at Ukraine, they would not need to retaliate.

Plus how about the peace talks Putin held recently? So much for peace, with attacks like this happening.

I remember when Putin said he was going to attack and if anyone interfered, there would be trouble.

Everyone decided to look the other way and do nothing.

I think the West should have assisted Ukraine right from the start and fought back hard to stop the whole sh!tsh0w kicking off.

I doubt it. Ukraine are getting some help from some countries and Putin hasn't threatened to escalate.

And getting help and direct involvement are two different things .
Why do you think Russia sent nuclear armed submarine to Cuba a few weeks back . Same as when the russian submarine surfaced off the west coast of America the other year you know them subs that are meant to stay hidden
Same as Macron backed straight down when he said few months back that he was sending troops for deployment when putin said try it

For intelligence to be effective it sometimes has to look poor.

Knowing when the intelligence is poor, or looks poor, keeps those that need to know, guessing

Their invasion of Ukraine has cost them more lives than every single armed conflict they've been in since WW2.

They don't have the people, equipment or appetite to expand their invasion of Ukraine. They want to secure as much territory as possible, ideally a land bridge to Moldova, sign a peace deal and then go again in 5-10 years.
