But it's not a simple choice. It's very nuanced, like Remainers recognised Brexit was going to be.
It requires an economic assessment.
Wages, pensions, housing costs, etc are higher in Ireland.
The parity could be achieved over a number of years. Germany took about 8 years to achieve parity after reunification. I believe.
There are a host of other questions, such as would UK continue to pay pensions to those already receiving them, etc.
Would UK pay (at least for a limited time) the costs of medical care for NI people, etc.
How would NI share of the national debt be dealt with.
So many in Ireland and NI will not decide until the reunification model is drawn up.
