Nigel did well..

I don’t know, my constituency has changed and tactical voting hasn’t announced recommendations yet.

I shall vote to get the Tories out, whoever that will be

Not much chance of that in t'Peaks...

Since 1910, the seat has returned mostly Conservative MPs apart from during three periods. A Labour MP was elected for the first time in 1966, but was unseated (in 1970).

he was asked what he would actually do... then the wheels fell off. Health, apparently the French have the solution,
They always do when a popularist concentrates on factors that influence people as they are not happy about them. They also have a rather strong right wing factor. Increasingly so of late. LOL The French have an entirely different health system.

Maybe he should have concentrated on a Tory change. It's an odd one. I gave rise to a joke in the NHS. Now consultants need to send GP's Xmas cards rather than the other way round as they used to. The change statement was that GP's now choose the treatment. I wondered what effect that would have on patients actually getting to see a consultant and the decisions process. Also why do this? I'd say to reduce consultants time with actual patients. My wife a while ago had a number of seasons with surgical consultant. What happens. They have work to do, they have hospital rounds of patients to do and then new patients presenting themselves and also what could be called outpatient work - people they have worked on. The result is long queues and long waits.

Another factor that GP's are complaining about. More money for staff but only nurses and similar when they reckon more GP's are available. Indicates a sort of of triage setup. Dispensers handing stuff out directly not via a GP etc. Phone appointments are cropping up even in hospitals before actually getting to see someone.

My wife is having problems at the moment. She is under treatment via a general hospital and a couple of wings of a specialist one. This is all pulled together by the GP not the consultants. The consultant appointments have been messed up as no one gets an appointment without a phone one first. One needs info from the others in order to make decisions. All via a GP.

No wonder waiting lists are building up. Farage's fix - grow up. Concentrate on under staffing.

Yes. More people earning equals more tax equals more money for spending on services, it could also eventually reduce taxation. So yes, for the greater good.

I believe we are facing very difficult decisions going forward. What would the mechanism be for forcing young people to work?

I want the Tory spivs out. Tories need to take a drubbing and then come back to the centre.
So you’re not against the Tories because they are Tories, just against those in control in the current Tory government. Fair enough.

LOL The Libs have an interesting view of the Tory. They have had their day - get rid of them. Like other can't win parties they needn't worry all that much about what they say they intend to do. All they can really do is make noises in PM question time. All great fun, leads to more confusion and generally achieves nothing. There may be odd well that is a good idea moments but rather unusual.

They will all want proportional voting for obvious reasons. If they put forward sane views that may not be that bad but in practice they concentrate solely on ideas that suite their voters - often can't does. In other countries this has a habit of showing when popularists actually get power.

So a sane view? Pick one that can win and vote for them. At least you will have some idea of what they are likely to do. Fracturing the vote is unlikely to achieve anything. A coalition might but then the aims of the lesser party need to be considered.

LOL Hobson's choice.

:) I haven't given my view of the Tory but in some ways I can say they have had their day. Way too many of them.

Some actual figures - unadjusted so an indication.

The figure are pretty consistent at higher ages until 50 to 64 and then the shoot up. No surprise to me as I worked in a town with something of an unemployment problem. i got to hear what goes on. Once someone passes 50 they find it far more difficult to get a job if they become unemployed. Similar numbers up to that age up to this point need considering against the population age spread. There is also a finally get a job at 30 effect kicking around. I've heard many comments about that just relating to graduates also that a lot less leave home once they get their degree than they did in the past.
