Nigel did well..

So it's not better than it was then?
Correct. It’s not better if you are a kid and are financially able and want to bum around Europe for more than 90 days in any 180. How many poor kids do you think that will affect? I can think of……none. No different from the rest of the world really.

Didn't look much like a brick to me.
I read it was a paper cup, who knows, hardly the same as blowing the face of that labor mp. If it was a brick then doubtless justice will be done.

Who dismissed him to start with about the boats and it being ficititous sensationalism etc.
The various gov's have always worked on illegal immigration. Your forgetting earlier methods of these people getting here and also how some were given work and still kept off the books. At time gov's have had to say come out come out where ever you are to hopefully get them on the books to help avoid them being abused and also used by crime.

So based on the above Farage comes along and say hey they are getting in using inflatables. He doesn't offer any solutions and also often demonstrates he is a racist. It's worth having some actual numbers. A plot, ~100,000 in total
Careful about drops - covid reduced numbers and at one point Albanians made up a high proportion. A return agreement was made as Albania can't afford to loose it's young. Richi says he has reduced the numbers on this basis but fact is the usual other countries still arrive. Afghans figure, real refugees. Sort that out properly and the rest can be deported. Farage says why aren't we deporting 41% any more. Now with more economic types it could probably be higher.

The reason for the drop is obvious. Processing also probably has similar problems to the other earlier boat people. Deporting them when they were entitled to live here. Get the refugee decisions right and no point in legal actions.

One of the stranger things that the Tory seem to have ignored is arrival disappearing into the population .Something no country wants. Given the way it has been handled some will have. Seems we couldn't keep a watch and intercept them ourselves. Spend a packet in France when they will probably just try again. Worked with ports but with boats?

All Farage has done and will continue to do in any area is add to the confusion. People get influenced by him and that can change the direction main stream politics go in. Takes time but it happens,

Visa immigrants. There are breakdowns about. It seems ~1/2 is tourism / work related visits. So reduce this area to 40% of what it currently is via a vote in the house? All sorts of races are involved. Going to single some out? It's a pipe dream.

Boarder force? Fact is as far as legal routes are concerned a passport is needed. That leaves a problem of tracking where people are to ensure they don't overstay etc. a common problem when ever passports are used as a control and it has been handled. Maybe BF will be expanding that or maybe it's just taxation related.

I read it was a paper cup
A Farage supporter added cement. Farage liked that but fact is the police will know what was in it. Maybe a flat white - well we don't know.
Farage though like many political figures is worried about his safety. That wont just be due to the 2 instances he has had.

Aggressive bombastic politics gets reflected into the population. It only takes one to do something unfortunate. A fact people like Trump don't care about in fact in his case it's more help bring it on. And it looks like he can get away with it even though in his case it wasn't one, a large group instead.

Or an adult.

Working.

Can't think of, or know any? Ok

So where are the benefits?

I just keep wondering why you seem so happy with worse rather than better
It’s not worse for me or anyone I know. Define the 'worse' that affects you. The extra couple of minutes in a queue at an airport? I know Notch was really troubled that he couldn’t get tomatoes locally at one point but he's never said anything else as far as I can remember. Nosey goes on even more European skiing trips so it doesn’t seem to have affected him either.

Harder for travel, worse for trade, affects prices. Etc etc.

Conversely.

What actual benefits are there?

bum around Europe for more than 90 days in any 180
When I did it in the 70's duration was set by holiday time. Loads of Americans around also a lot of Europeans not in their own particular country.

Car, youth hostels, maybe a hotel overnight at times but best avoided as more expensive. Strange looks too if 2 blokes in the same room. Also slept in the car at tines as Europeans might do to get where ever they want to be. Some doing this will be couples where ever they are from.

Youth hostels in famous riviera places might be full but can still be visited.

Fact is this is not expensive and is unlikely to be now.

I also know people who worked their way around the world. Some still do. I met a nurse who fancies seeing what Oz is like for a while. Ok people need a skill they can sell even if just contract work. The lot I know came up against a problem that is more likely now. To get to Cape Town they needed to drive through an African country and found they couldn't so had to sell the vehicle and fly over it. They were a long way down Africa. At times there is need to stay long enough to build up air travel costs. This method may be far more complex now and need more initial money if extreme.

What actual benefits are there?
Europeans are now not able to freely travel over here, stay, work, use our healthcare etc and drive down wages for Brit workers. Let’s face it, people coming from some of the poorer EU countries are willing to hot-bed and live in squalor even for below minimum U.K. wage as it’s a bloody fortune to them compared to what they would get in their home country. It’s stops those people being exploited by unscrupulous employers. Maybe you think that's not a benefit?
