Perhaps you could try the original San Miguel, which comes from the Philippines, viz San Miguel isn't Spanish in origin.
Never knew that. Just Googled it and you are right. Brewed in Spain since the 50's though and it's a darned fine beer. Now owned by the Mahou group (Mahou red label is my ultimate favourite Spanish beer but I've never seen it for sale in Blighty). I'll look out for the Filipino version but don't hold out too much hope.

I think I may have seen it in a Thai restaurant, but I might be mistaken.
 
I've had Singha lager. Brewed in Thailand. An acceptable pilsner style beer good for quaffing. Three 660ml bottles for a fiver from Tesco.
 
My favourite beer was Tsing Tao that I had in Kuching in 1981. Not sure where it was brewed though.
Anchor was good, too.

Chinese made and not bad at all. Widely available in supermarkets and offies. Germans built the brewery before WW1.
 
I used to only drink real ale, but switched to lager many years ago, for reasons that are too boring to go into. Back then (90's) there were many more breweries, many of which have either gone now or merged with other breweries. Latterly of course we've seen an explosion of micro brewers and craft beers, I'm sure some are good, but I've sort of lost the taste for bitter and I've had some really odd craft brews that were, shall we say, interesting!

So now it's just common or garden lager (low ABV preferred), or gnats pi55 as it's commonly known.
 
Get on the IPAs, @EddieM ; far tastier than lagers, but without the bitterness of, well bitter.

Just had a couple of pints of Meantime IPA, very smooth and citrusy ending (y)

And Shipyard is a safe bet (y)

I should probably give proper beer another go, the reason I switched was our local pub near work didn't have a cellar or adequate cooling facilities so in summer the real ale was always vinegar. (I said the reason was boring!)

As I have holiday until next week, I have been treated to a day and evening out.
Meantime IPA with my Mexican chicken wrap lunch.
A few pints of Rheinbacher pilsner in the afternoon sun, upon my return home.
Carlsberg Export (all they had) with my Chinese meal tonight.
Now watching recorded River Monsters, with some spiced rum :p



Tomorrow, 20+ miles of mtb riding, for some fresh air and lactic acid on the climbs (y)
