Widespread rioting

I’m watching BBC London news at the moment. They are talking about the 12,000 homeless people in the capital alone. If the government can find bed, board and healthcare for people from other countries who come over here on a dinghy, why can’t they find the same for our homeless? I don’t agree with the rioting and attacks on police but come on, you can understand a certain amount of frustration.

I hadn't realised you were such a big supporter of the homeless! You're a big softie after all!

We choose not to. We did it during COVID but then dropped the funding, maybe labour will change that.
In your dreams, high levels of homelessness are here to stay for the time being, the country is economically weak and that ensures a steady flow of people losing their homes, accommodations etc. A zero sum mindset is difficult to dislodge. What is the difference between shooting asylum seekers in the channel and burning them alive in hostels?

Stop the fking boats. I find it beyond fcked up a single person is entering our shores illegally.
Anyone seen to be jumping a queue when there are people literally crying out for help already here, it will always create frustration.
Try it at your local post office, jump the queue see what happens, its not because of your skin colour, it's because you're jumping the queue!
Significantly halt immigration until we have facilities per person restored, despite many people crying its nothing to do with the population explosion it really is, it's a strange Ostrich mentality in this country some people feel to ashamed to have awkward conversations, it is ok, when it is in the interest of the UK population it's not about hate or racism.
The NHS is rotten to the core in how it runs, i don't know the answer to that one, Farage i have to say is right throwing more money at it isn't the answer.
Starmer could change the policy on Dentists tomorrow, no more private licenses until you've completed 5+years NHS, who wants to earn £36k as an NHS Dentist when you can flip to private instantly. Make it compulsory ffs! No instead he's focused now on stop the Right wing extremists not the boats again!

So, I think there might be fewer than 200,000 small boat people still in the UK. Mainly fit young men. Let's give a very top estimate and say that 25% need medical treatment, so 50,000. So if they weren't here, that could possibly reduce the NHS waiting list from 10,000,000 to 9,950,000. Would anyone notice the difference?

I miss a good discussion.

Was there a policy for housing the homeless before refugees started arriving by boat?

The government and charities could house the homeless but they don't.
It certainly isn't a Tory policy, there's no money in it.

Maybe Labour might consider it, and maybe not.

He's not, he's been using the lawless angle before now to moan about the refugees. But he's now been shown to be even worse law-breaker than any refugees, so he's found another hook on which to hang his racism.
Just like transam uses animal cruelty on which to hang his racism.
Reganandcarter uses anything that pops up on which to hang his racism.

I can see how diappointed more than 48% of the voters were to have no representation in Brexit.
and I was one of those 48%, very disappointing

I don't think referendums are the best way to decide things, and likewise I don't think how our UK gov is choosen is also very good. Scotland has a far better system in choosing Holyrood, your vote always counts towards something, where as it is easy just to waste your time voting if the party you prefer is poorly represented in your own area.

Most of the immigrants are international students. Many of the rest are workers we need to fill the skills shortages, including thousands of nurses and carers. It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation.

You're brave, engaging with festive. ;)

Proper softie. Our daughter knows us well and bought us this Christmas present a few years ago. I couldn’t have been more happier or proud of her.

Opened the post today and it contained our Christmas present from our daughter and her fiancé. So happy and so proud - it brought a little tear to my eye!

They can and do. Those that don't break the rules and sneak back to old habits of drink, drugs, stealing, rules breaches or general lawbreaking.

Elon Musk appears to be a big fan, since he allowed him back on the website and even posted "civil war is inevitable" in response to him.
Yeah, multi billionaire, concerned about who gets a few more quid and who doesn't.
