Another example of how cash strapped councils waste money

Our council just been allocated an additional over 7 figures to address the problem

It's not so much additional money, as funding that should have allocated in previous years, but wasn't.

Like not paying your mortgage for the last decade, then pouring money into it and calling it overpaying.......

I said "should".

It's not my fault the country is lazy and unthinking.

Says plenty about you though, that you defend them being so.
I stated a fact, that’s all.

Please don’t start making things up to try and win. It’s beneath you

The feeling is not mutual (y)
I’ve made nothing up. I’m of the honest opinion roads should be a priority after hospitals and schools etc.

But because this is the GD it’s going to turn into another bitch fest.

Proverbial nail on the head.

Slightly OT but I saw this starting first hand on a small scale decades ago. Worked in a hospital as an orderly for a while, theatres. In the evening, 2 x cleaners would come in and take however long to clean the corridors, staff areas etc. Cleaning the actual theatres was left to us.

The board then got time in motion 'experts' in or whatever they were called. The result? 2 x cleaners became 1 x cleaner who was given less time to complete the same task.

Wards used to have spare capacity, then the lean 'experts' advised not required.

We used to have cottage hospitals where folk could sent to recuperate.

Same with underinvestment in railways etc.

Then they have the audacity to boast about additional funding ... to fix things that went wrong due to previous cuts!

We've got a local community hospital with 4 wards, 3 are closed. Combination of no money and no staff.

A nice road to it won't help.

No need to be flippant is there.

My opinion isn’t the same as yours “surprise”

If you don’t think good roads are important that’s fine. Let’s leave it there. You’ll be on the sherry soon and we know how that ends on a Sunday.
