Wales becomes Trumpton

This example changes the speed limit from 30 to 60mph as a result of trying to make it 20mph.

Clearly not a built up road where 20mph can be justified
And to add context...

This story was from a week ago, when many councils had pre-installed 20mph signs, but covered them up with 30mph stickers, ready for a quick turnaround on the 17th.
There were some incidents of defacement of the signs.

And as your post has been edited, here again is the context - sign tampering from back in July...

you simply have to click show on map for the data.
Almost half a million people now. If you’d done a bit of research you’d see that the trial areas are where the hot spots are. There has also been data analysis from the welsh government to try to prove that significant non Welsh signatures have been added. They found less than 0.5%

Thank you for that article. Very informative.
Nearly 80% of the signatories are in North and South Wales where the main commercial areas link to other English commercial areas, i.e. the Livepool area (esp Chester connecting with Deeside), and the Bristol areas (connecting with Newport, Swansea and Cardiff) of England.
Suggesting that all the signatories are motorists, but still little over 10% of the population.
And I very much doubt if the addresses of the signatories have been verified.

The vast majority of Wales, the more rural mid area of Wales only have about 13% of total signatories.

I suspect that the hype and misreprfesentation built up about which roads are affected has led to many signing under a misunderstanding.

There is a data map showing precisely which roads are affected. it's a long way from the supposed blanket ban that has been claimed by the activists.

it’s those that are suffering from it who are voicing the most objection. As I said. The pilot areas and the areas when the blanket 30 to 20 has most impact. Rural areas are less affected. And according to those who run the poll, they are confident it has not been manipulated. My guess is cookies and Ip data are stored.

Bus drivers complaining, taxi drivers complaining, delivery drivers complaining. Everything will take longer and that has a direct impact. I’m sure people are happy to have 30% increase in costs.

Apparently not

I can think of £40m that was wasted. No doubt it will cost another £40m to put it right when he’s voted out.

The claims of lives saved are incredibly modest and will easily be attributed to regression and the general trends.

We don’t see any evidence of lives saved from the trial areas. It’s difficult to compare when there is no longer a Baseline.

Plenty of studies say they don’t work despite the huge funding that goes in to studies to try to prove the policy was right. It’s pretty embarrassing when your policy fails, is unpopular and wastes money.
