Starmer absolutely no straight answers

It was really bland and boring with an awful chair

The itv programme afterwards with other leaders was far better - mostly gave answers to questions
I agree the chair was awful

The electorate must always want for lower taxes, because every election we get have to suffer this dance.

Sunak kept using the fearmongering tactic of saying Labour would raise taxes.
Starmer kept saying they wouldn’t raise them (income tax / NI)

Both sides are bullsh1tting

Conservatives have put £80b of tax rises in place since 2019
Conservatives current NI cut requires £18b of cuts to public services

But neither Sunak nor Starmer addressed that -who ever wins will have it to deal with, so they should talk about it.

If the electorate do actually vote for the promise of lower taxes, I suppose we deserve the bullsh1t.

why do the main parties not want to mention raising tax? Do they think we are all stupid?

Why do the main parties ignore the elephant in the room?

I found myself surprised by how much I warmed to Richard Tice. Not listened to much of him in the past but he was certainly the most appealing of the 'also rans'.
I suppose it’s no surprise you believe a lying grifter

He spouts the populist nonsense that you want to hear.

Tice is a front for libertarian lobbyists, he is a Tufton street puppet.

Well we are stupid.

There must be a significant % of the electorate that vote for the party that convinces them they will lower taxes.

Earlier this year Jeremy Hunt lowered NI, but forgot to say £80b of tax rises had already been put in place.

So clearly the politicians are selling what they think we we will buy

Starmer is forced into the same corner….trying to promise better public services with no tax rises.

Well we are stupid.

Not all of us

Labour could simply say that there will be taxes rising to pay for things. Most people I know would happily pay more for better services, roads etc

I think the Conservative shift from NI to direct income tax makes some sense as it does reward workers and punishes people who receive money but not earn it by working. Could be wrong.

I wouldn't necessarily say "stupid", but many believe what they are told and vote accordingly.

Personally, I'm with Murdoch.

I would understand the need to raise taxes to get the country out of the mire. But it always seems to be a battle of who would do the best job with the same income, and raising taxes, even temporarily, is seen as a terrible thing to do.

Because people dont want to pay more tax especially income tax, but expect service levels in health care etc to be be maintained. Many believe its inefficiencies in the public sector that are the problem. Even the lib dems don't suggest income tax rises any more.

you are a tribal Tory through and through

youve said loads of times how we need higher taxes, but you here you are defending a blatant bit of Tory tax cutting bribery as "a good idea"

they havent done it as a shift theyve done it as a bribe

Not all of us
there are enough stupid people, its why weve had neo liberal policies for the last 50 years

we keep voting for parties whose policies steadily keep transferring wealth from govt and the workers to the rich...which is why we are royally f****d now

and no Im not a raving lefty, I dont agree with the envy politics of the left

and the LibDem's?
the minority parties arent going to win so they have no need to appease swing voters in marginals

it is why minority parties can tell the truth, they can afford to alienate lots of voters

If that's the case then one of 'em should point out how Bre*it has contributed to the decline in living standards and the rise in the cost of living.

Sunak looked like a stroppy schoolboy
Interesting. An AlJ few minutes overview indicated the same thing. Me watch all of it?. Afraid not. I've heard the policy ideas and that is enough for me. The Tory essentially indicate no change and are effectively saying thanks to Brown for how he set the BofE up. LOL They argued rather strongly about aspects like that.
